SouthComm closes City Paper deal

SouthComm Inc., the parent of NashvillePost.com, has completed its acquisition of The City Paper.

The deal unites The City Paper’s Monday and Friday print editions and Web site with NashvillePost.com’s daily Web offerings and SouthComm’s other local and regional media holdings.

“We’re excited to move forward as one and deliver to Nashville the best breaking news online and the smartest and most insightful coverage of the region in print,” said SouthComm CEO Chris Ferrell. “Today’s news consumer is increasingly Web-oriented but still looks to the print medium for a deeper understanding of the news. By bringing together The City Paper and Post teams, we’ll deliver both.”

The organizations already have begun integrating their operations and will shortly begin to roll out new features and other improvements to both The City Paper and NashvillePost.com.

Since being founded late last year, SouthComm has acquired several niche media properties in Nashville and Louisville and launched Her Nashville, a local women’s magazine.
